Temple
By the divine grace of Shree Shree Ma Basanti Thakurani, the sacred tradition of worship, spiritual practice, and community devotion has continued uninterrupted for more than two and a half centuries in Paschim Manikpur, Mishrapara.
Guided by the blessings of Shree Shree Rajrajeswar Thakur and Shree Shree Raghunath Thakur, our temple stands as a symbol of devotion, unity, and cultural heritage. These two revered deities, worshipped as divine brothers, are honoured together with equal dignity and reverence.
To preserve and organize this sacred heritage in a structured, transparent, and future-oriented manner, Ma Basanti Thakurani Sewa Samity was established as a public religious and charitable trust.
To preserve and perpetuate the spiritual legacy of our presiding deities while building a disciplined, transparent, and harmonious religious institution that nurtures devotion, unity, and social welfare for generations to come.
T• To ensure regular Nitya Puja of all presiding deities with equal devotion and discipline. • To organize the Annual Basanti Puja with transparency and community participation. • To construct, maintain, and develop the temple as a sacred spiritual centre. • To promote religious harmony, cultural values, and charitable initiatives. • To operate strictly on a non-profit and accountable basis.
The sacred spiritual journey of Maa Basanti Thakurani Puja in Paschim Manikpur, Mishrapara began more than two and a half centuries ago, around the auspicious day of Chaitra Shukla Sasthi (30 March 1778, Monday).
This divine tradition was founded by the respected Zamindar, Shree Radha Mohan Mishra, a man of great courage, wisdom, and deep spiritual consciousness. He was widely revered not only as a just and compassionate landlord but also as a devoted follower of Sanatan Dharma.
Alongside him stood his equally pious and devoted wife, Srimati Konui Bala Mishra, whose dedication to sacred rituals and religious observances strengthened the spiritual foundation of the family.
Together, they initiated the grand and devotional observance of: • 🌸 Basanti Puja (Chaitra Navaratri) • 🌼 Saradiya Durgotsav (Sharadiya Durga Puja)
These festivals soon became the spiritual heartbeat of the region, celebrated with devotion, discipline, and community participation.
On a pilgrimage to Varanasi (Kashi), Shree Radha Mohan Mishra experienced a powerful divine dream, where Baba Rajrajeswar instructed him to bring His sacred presence back home.
Moved by this divine Vision, he went to the holy banks of the Ganga River during the same night and discovered a sacred Saligram Shila, symbolizing Shree Shree Rajrajeswar Thakur.
He brought the divine Shila to Manikpur and established it as the Kuladevata (Family Deity) of the Mishra family.
👉 From that sacred moment onward, Nitya Puja (daily worship) of Baba Rajrajeswar Thakur began and continues as an eternal spiritual practice within the family.
As time passed, Shree Radha Mohan Mishra ensured the preservation of both sacred traditions through wise succession planning.
He entrusted his two sons with distinct responsibilities: • Shree Priyanath Mishra (Elder Son) 👉 Entrusted with Basanti Puja • Shree Janaki Mishra (Younger Son) 👉 Entrusted with Saradiya Durgotsav This division ensured that both traditions would flourish independently yet harmoniously.
With the gradual changes brought by time and history, the tradition of Saradiya Durgotsav eventually came to a halt.
However, the sacred lineage of Basanti Puja, carried forward by the descendants of Shree Priyanath Mishra, remained uninterrupted and alive through generations.
Shree Priyanath Mishra was blessed with five sons: • Hemanta Mishra • Sarat Mishra • Sisir Mishra • Nalinikanta Mishra • Sudhir Mishra
After his demise, these five brothers carried forward the sacred responsibility with deep devotion.
✨ In a beautiful tradition of unity, the Basanti Puja was performed every year in rotation among their households. This system symbolized: 👉 Family harmony 👉 Equal responsibility 👉 Collective devotion
Over time, the family expanded significantly. From the original five brothers, the lineage has now grown to 26 descendants, all spiritually connected to this sacred tradition. However, with such expansion, continuing the rotational system became increasingly challenging.
Considering the practical challenges of modern life and the growing family size, a collective realization emerged:
👉 A permanent temple is essential to preserve and continue this sacred heritage in a structured and uninterrupted manner.
The proposed temple will ensure: • 🔱 Daily Nitya Puja of Baba Rajrajeswar Thakur • 🕉️ Worship of Baba Raghunath • 🌸 Grand annual Basanti Puja of Maa Basanti Thakurani All performed with discipline, devotion, and continuity.
Today, this sacred temple project stands as: ✨ A symbol of 250+ years of unbroken spiritual heritage ✨ A reflection of family unity and devotion ✨ A commitment to Sanatan Dharma and tradition ✨ A divine bridge connecting past, present, and future generations
