By the divine grace of Shree Shree Maa Basanti Thakurani, a sacred tradition of worship, spiritual practice, and community devotion has continued for more than two and a half centuries in Paschim Manikpur, Mishrapara.

Guided by the blessings of Shree Shree Rajrajeswar Thakur and Shree Shree Raghunath Thakur, our temple stands as a symbol of devotion, unity, and cultural heritage. These two revered deities, worshipped as divine brothers, are honoured together with equal dignity and reverence.

To preserve and organize this sacred heritage in a structured, transparent, and future-oriented manner, Ma Basanti Thakurani Sewa Samity was established as a public religious and charitable trust.

A Sacred Heritage of Over 250 Years

The spiritual journey of Maa Basanti Thakurani Puja in Paschim Manikpur, Mishrapara began on Chaitra Shukla Sasthi, 1185 Bangabda (30 March 1778, Monday).

The tradition was founded by the respected Zamindar Shree Radha Mohan Mishra, a devoted follower of Sanatan Dharma, together with his equally devoted wife Srimati Konui Bala Mishra.

Together, they established the sacred traditions of Basanti Puja and Saradiya Durgotsav, laying the spiritual foundation that would be carried forward through generations.

Divine Intervention & Establishment of Kuladevata

During a pilgrimage to Varanasi (Kashi), Shree Radha Mohan Mishra experienced a powerful divine dream in which Baba Rajrajeswar instructed him to bring His sacred presence home.

Following this divine experience, he discovered a sacred Saligram Shila on the banks of the Ganga and brought it to Manikpur, where it was established as the Kuladevata of the Mishra family.

From that sacred moment, Nitya Puja of Baba Rajrajeswar Thakur became an enduring spiritual practice.

Legacy Division for Continuity

To ensure that both sacred traditions would continue, Shree Radha Mohan Mishra entrusted distinct responsibilities to his two sons.

Shree Priyanath Mishra, the elder son, was entrusted with Basanti Puja, while Shree Janaki Mishra, the younger son, was entrusted with Saradiya Durgotsav.

This thoughtful succession helped preserve both traditions in harmony.

Succession

Passage of Time & Preservation of Basanti Puja

As time passed, the tradition of Saradiya Durgotsav eventually came to a halt.

However, the sacred lineage of Basanti Puja, carried forward by the descendants of Shree Priyanath Mishra, remained alive through generations.

The continued observance became a testament to the family's enduring faith and sense of responsibility.

Continuity

Expansion & Family Unity

Shree Priyanath Mishra was blessed with five sons: Hemanta Mishra, Sarat Mishra, Sisir Mishra, Nalinikanta Mishra, and Sudhir Mishra.

After his demise, the five brothers carried forward the sacred responsibility together. Basanti Puja was performed every year in rotation among their households.

This tradition reflected family harmony, equal responsibility, and collective devotion.

Family Unity

Growth of the Lineage

Over time, the family lineage expanded significantly. From the original five brothers, the tradition came to be shared by 26 descendants.

As the family grew, maintaining the rotational system became increasingly challenging. This created a new responsibility: to find a sustainable way to preserve the sacred tradition for future generations.

The Need for a Unified Temple (Present Vision)

With the practical challenges of modern life and the growing family, a collective realization emerged: a permanent temple is essential to preserve and continue this sacred heritage in a structured and uninterrupted manner.

The proposed temple will provide a lasting home for daily Nitya Puja of Baba Rajrajeswar Thakur, the worship of Baba Raghunath, and the grand annual Basanti Puja of Maa Basanti Thakurani.

Today, the temple project represents more than construction. It is a sacred promise to preserve a 250+ year spiritual heritage, honour the devotion of our ancestors, strengthen family and community unity, and create a divine bridge between past, present, and future generations.

Every prayer, every act of Seva, and every contribution towards this mission becomes part of that continuing legacy.
